      • What is GSA?: A Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) is a student-run club that provides a safe place for students and teachers to meet, talk and educate others about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) issues. Everyone is Welcome!

    6. Food Drive
      Ms. Bottega:
The Food Drive starts on Tuesday October 10th and runs until Friday, November 3rd. We are collecting from the Period 4 class (on a Day 1) for four consecutive Fridays. We are collecting non-perishable items for the Barrhaven Food Cupboard. There are some great short videos on their website. We are hoping to surpass the 5000 items we collected last year! There are prizes to be won.

The Food cupboard sent me the following info:
"The food bank needs cereal, peanut butter, crackers, fruit snacks, can fruit, spegetti and sauce, and personal items like shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, toilet paper, diapers, soap.

I was told that by year end, we do 1500 orders, give or take 20. We average 125-130 food orders a month. It represents approx 1350 people - 50% of which are under the age of 18."
Student Action would really appreciate anything your students can come up with to advertise this event.
    7. MultiCultural Club
Ms. Greenough: Can they help with a display for Multicultural Club?
    8. Look around the school - if you see a sign posted to a door or window, take a picture of it with your phone!
    9. Check McNews.ca - short notice announcements are no good, but sometimes there are items that give you ideas for promotions that would work in the long term.
